‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ Adds Laura Haddock to Star Alongside Mark Wahlberg; Decepticon Barricade Gets an Upgrade

English actress Laura Haddock joins the cast of Michael Bay's upcoming 'Transformers: The Last Knight'

‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ is set to feature English actress Laura Haddock in a yet unnamed role. She joins a growing cast that includes Mark Wahlberg in the lead role. Meanwhile, the Decepticon Barricade will be returning to wreak havoc in the fifth installment. He is revealed with upgrades.

According to Comingsoon.net, Haddock has signed on for the fifth installment in the science-fiction action film series helmed by Michael Bay. She is set to star alongside returning lead actor Mark Wahlberg as well as Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins, and Isabela Moner. She confirmed her involvement through a post on Twitter.

The 30-year old English actress previously appeared in films such as ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. She starred in the coming-of-age film ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’, where she was nominated an Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer. She is also best known for her roles in television series such as ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’ and ‘The Musketeers’.

Meanwhile, Barricade will return as a new and improved villain in the upcoming film. Bay posted a photograph of Barricade’s upgraded look on his website. According to /Film, Barricade is revealed to be an updated Ford Mustang Saleen.

Although the black and white police car still has the words “to punish and enslave” on the back, Barricade’s spoiler is more pronounced along with other new customizations. It was also suggested that the infamous Decepticon may also have upgraded weaponry.

Barricade was first introduced in Bay’s 2007’s ‘Transformers’ as one of the main villains. The character did not appear in the sequel ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ but returned for the third film ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ in an extended cameo. He was not featured prominently in 2014’s ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ and instead appeared in footage of the Battle of Chicago.

‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ is an upcoming science-fiction and action film intended as the fifth installment in the ‘Transformers’ cinematic universe. It is directed by Michael Bay and written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Ken Nolan. Don Murphy, Tom DeSanto, Ian Bryce, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura serve as producers.

The preceding film, ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’, was a massive box office success despite receiving generally negative reviews. It earned $1.104 billion worldwide, against a production budget of $210 million.
