A new clip for “Toy Story 4” was just released and it is already making waves, not all of which are entirely positive. While this should have been a teaser for another touching chapter in the legendary animated series, many noticed that the action involved women taking charge. Specifically, Bo Beep who was directing the other toys for the rescue from what appears to be the old room of Andy’s sister. Is the entire film going to be a flashback?
As Entertainment Weekly reports, the new “Toy Story 4” clip below shows Bo Beep directing the rescue of a toy that appears to have been caught outside during a storm. Smoothly coordinating the action, the female toy has clearly been given a significantly bigger role this time around than the first film. This not only caught the attention of pro-feminist publications, but it also did so for the opposite crowd.

Now, it’s worth pointing out that these types of conversations tend to blow up on the web from time to time. The internet is rarely a good place for wholesome discussions. However, it’s also undeniable that with the rise of so many strong female characters in the film industry, this is the right move to make. Injecting female empowerment in “Toy Story 4” is just an organic route in Hollywood now.
With regards to the clip itself, another interesting detail about it is the fact that it looks like Molly’s bedroom. When taking the timeline into consideration, this clearly makes no sense since the toys had already been moved from Andy’s house after the college kid had given them to a new owner. As such, this “Toy Story 4” clip could be indicative of a flashback. Whether the film is actually a prequel to “Toy Story 3” is the question.
As for when “Toy Story 4” will be hitting the theatres, it is currently expected to do so on June 21. Parents and fans will want to keep their schedules open for that one.
