“The Winds of Winter” is now years in the making since it was expected to arrive as early as 2012 but seven years after, George RR Martin has yet to announce a release date. The novel is the sixth book in the “A Song of Fire and Ice” book series and it has been delayed at least thrice already.
But now, eight years after the last book in the “ASOIF” series was published, it seems that this time, GRRM can finally get the book out for his fans to read. With the delays, the author feels apologetic because he knows how much the fans want the book and they have been waiting for a long time now. Thus, in May, he said that his fans could lock him up in a cottage until he finishes “The Winds of Winter,” if he will still fail to publish it in the third quarter of 2020.
Martin’s new hint about the completion of “TWOW”
Express reported that George RR Martin might have hinted that the final draft of “The Winds of Winter” is done and that he can announce the publishing date soon. The outlet made this suggestion as the 71-year-old author said that he was on a business trip recently. The publication commented that his words appeared to be hinting that he is finished writing the book and now on the process of having it published.
What the publication is talking about was Martin’s blog post titled “Bring Me My Pipe” that was published on Nov. 18. In the said piece, the author relayed that he had been to New York, one of his favorite cities in the world.
“On the business side, I check in with all my publishers (I have several), my agents (I have several), with my editors (past and present), with my friends and colleagues at HBO (past and present),” Martin wrote. “I often do a signing, an interview, or some other sort of public event.”
It was pointed out that as George RR Martin mentioned about meeting his publishers, agents and editors while in New York, there is a big chance that he is meeting them for the publishing of “The Winds of Winter.”
‘TWOW’ is Martin’s priority
It is likely that GRRM is already close to finishing or that the final draft of “The Winds of Winter” is already done. While people are worried that the book might be delayed again due to his new projects like HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel, they have nothing to fear because the author said that his top priority is “TWOW,” thus it is possible that the release date announcement is really coming soon.
