“The Winds of Winter” was supposed to be released years ago but its author, George RR Martin, was not able to finish it on set deadlines. In fact, he missed more than two deadlines already and the author admitted that he is actually frustrated too, just like the fans that have been waiting for the novel’s publication.
Due to the length of time that already passed, there were rumors that George RR Martin will not be able to finish “The Winds of Winter” as he is getting older now. Some fans reasoned that perhaps, he cannot bear the workload anymore so it may never be published at all.
Probably aware of the rumors, George RR Martin assured fans that “The Winds of Winter” is going to make its way to the bookstores as soon as he is done with it. He said that he has not given up writing the sixth book in the “A Song Of Ice And Fire” series so fans should wait a bit more.
In September, the 70-year-old multi-awarded author told The Hollywood Reporter that “The Winds of Winter” is very complex that is why he is having a hard time finishing it right now. He added that he also removed some finished chapters because it is getting too long.
Now, although Martin already said that “TWOW” will definitely not arrive this year, an illustrator with whom the author worked with for the cover of his books hinted that it may possibly come sooner than everyone thinks.
Based on his tweet, Enrique Jiménez Corominas, the Spanish illustrator, said that he just finished the book cover illustration for George RR Martin’s book and confirmed that it is not for the “Fire and Blood” novel. If that was the case, many fans believe that it could be for “The Winds of Winter” since this is what the author is currently working on.
Then again, the release date of “The Winds of Winter” is still unclear unless an official announcement is made. Thus, waiting a bit more will be worthwhile since George RR Martin promised that the novel would be a great read.
