“The Winds of Winter” has been in the most-awaited book release for years and sadly, the novel is still not available until now. When HBO premiered “Game of Thrones” in 2011, George RR Martin already published four books in his “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series where the TV drama was based on. The author said that there will be seven books in all and he wants everything finished before “GoT” concludes its run on television.
However, “Games of Thrones” already caught up with Martin as he still needs to release the last two books while the TV adaptation is already airing its final season that premiered this month. The author released the fifth book titled “A Dance with Dragons” in 2011 and eight years after, the sixth which is “The Winds of Winter” has yet to arrive.
The 70-year-old author also expressed disappointment in himself when he failed to complete “The Winds of Winter” on time, but he recently updated fans about his progress with the book, and it was good news. He said that he picked up his pace and writing has been going well lately.
“Writing on The Winds of Winter has been going very well lately, so knock wood,” he said during a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight. “It’ll be done when it’s done.”
Martin did not mention any target date for the publishing of “The Winds of Winter” because he does not want to disappoint the fans again. Then again, many are speculating that the announcement of the book’s release is coming soon because with Martin speeding up and everything is going well, he might complete it in no time. Perhaps, there will be a surprise announcement?
Meanwhile, in Martin also teased fans a bit about what can be expected from “The Winds of Winter.” He revealed that there will be new creatures in the sixth book of “ASOIAF” and he is introducing unicorns. The new addition is exciting because such creatures have many capabilities and it is interesting to see how they will be integrated into the story.
