“The Winds of Winter” is undoubtedly delayed, and George RR Martin should have released the book as early as 2012. He already made several promises in the past, at least three times, but he failed to meet these deadlines.
As expected, fans are disappointed, and they get even more frustrated with each passing year since the 71-year-old author published the fifth book in the “A Song of Fire and Ice” series in 2011. This means they have been waiting for eight years now, and still, the sixth book has yet to be published.
When will GRRM release “TWOW”
As mentioned, Martin has made promises to his followers before, but he failed to fulfill them. At the beginning of last year, he told fans that he will no longer mention any date, but he once again dropped a deadline, and he probably did this as he is very confident that he will make it this time.
The author said that the “The Winds of Winter” is coming this summer and he announced this in May last year. He did not hesitate to post the date on his blog site, and this just indicates that he is ready to release the book.
“As for finishing my book, I fear that New Zealand would distract me entirely too much, so it’s best to leave me here in Westeros for once,” he wrote. “But I tell you this - if I don’t have ‘THE WINDS OF WINTER’ in hand when I arrive in New Zealand for Worldcon, you have here my formal written permission to imprison me in a small cabin on White Island, overlooking that lake of sulfuric acid, until I’m done.”
With this statement, it is clear that George RR Martin confirmed that “The Winds of Winter” is coming this July or August 2020. He did not mention the exact months, but because the upcoming Worldcon in New Zealand is happening from July 29 to Aug. 2, then it can be assumed that those are the dates to remember.
It is real this time
Finally, fans should be assured that “The Winds of Winter” is coming in six or seven months from now because not releasing the book on time this year will be a big embarrassment for GRRM. This is because the fans are really angry already as per the Express, and besides, the author surely does not want to be exiled to an island to finish the book as he promised.
