‘The Winds of Winter’: George RR Martin Promised July 2020 Release Date But Here Are Reasons Why It Can Be Delayed Again

George RR Martin

“The Winds of Winter” is not out yet even the “Game of Thrones” has already concluded last month. In the past, George RR Martin said that he hoped that the HBO series that was based on his “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series would not end before he could finish all seven books, however, the drama caught up with him and fans said that it was due to the author’s procrastinating attitude.

In his blog post in May, Martin made a promise that he will be releasing “The Winds of Winter” in July 2020. He said that by the time he visits New Zealand to attend the World Science Fiction Convention, “TWOW” will already be on his hands and if he failed to do so, he told fans that they could lock him up in a small cottage so he could finish the book.

While the fact that the 70-year-old author mentioned a publishing date made everyone happy, they became doubtful if he can really fulfill his promise because it was reported that George RR Martin accepted a new job post as Meow Wolf’s new Chief World Builder. As per Deadline, “The Winds of Winter” author will bring unparalleled storytelling skills to the multiverse of Meow Wolf by working with key members of the collective to advise on building narratives and mind-bending ideas that will yield ambitious immersive installations.”

His job description suggests that he has a lot to do like the new chief builder in the Arts and Entertainment center based in Santa Fe. Thus, this new job could hinder Martin’s ability to finish “The Winds of Winter” on his promised date.

As if this is not enough, Martin also started working with FromSoftware to create a game called Elden Ring that was confirmed just three weeks ago at Microsoft’s E3 2019 keynote. The game will be published by Bandai Namco, and it will be available on PC and Xbox One.

Variety reported that Martin is also involved in many other projects and they are all in the works and includes five HBO shows that are in development. With all of these projects, clearly, fans have reasons to be worried about “The Winds of Winter” release date delay - again.
