“The Walking Dead” Season 9 has now parted ways with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), heralding a new chapter for the post-apocalyptic saga. While everyone thought that Rick was going to die, he actually survived his ordeal and was carried off by a chopper to a place where he can recover from his injuries, Forbes reported.
Now that the face of the series is gone, it appears that Daryl (Norman Reedus) will be the next headliner of the series if rumors of his salary hold true. According to The Daily Express, Reedus’ latest contract supposedly gave him $50 to $90 million that would tie him with the series for three years. And since “The Walking Dead” Season 9 has also introduced another major character in the form of Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming), this little revolver-wielding protagonist will need all the guidance she needs moving forward.
The show has also employed a time jump of several years that has left the previous plotline behind. As said earlier, “The Walking Dead” Season 9 appears to be opening up a new chapter for the post-apocalyptic drama.
While it isn’t clear if this is going to be well-received by the fans, the new premise certainly has a lot of interesting things to offer and explore. Among these are the characters and each of their perspectives on several fronts. How is Michonne (Danai Gurira) doing? Has Daryl fully transitioned to his leadership role? What about Negan? (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). “The Walking Dead” Season 9 is expected to answer all these questions and more in the upcoming episodes.
There’s also the possibility of Rick returning to the show. While fans will not be seeing the titular character in the rest of “The Walking Dead” Season 9, there’s still the chance of him coming back since the writers didn’t kill him off.
Most of the fans are hoping he will as he was the main reason why the show became a worldwide phenomenon. Whatever the case, “The Walking Dead” Season 9 will be setting up a lot of things for the series and it will be interesting to see how Judith Grimes will influence the ratings in future episodes. Her introduction, after all, was one of the most unexpected things that blindsided audiences this installment.
