AMC's post-apocalyptic zombie drama does not shy away from giving its fans bits and pieces of information to dissect during the lead-up to “The Walking Dead” season 9. In a blog post on the AMC website, “The Walking Dead” showrunner Angela Kang shared a few hints for fans that shed some light on the questions that “The Walking Dead” season 9 will hopefully answer.
One of the new preview photos for “The Walking Dead” season 9 shows a happy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Michonne (Danai Gurira), and Rick's adoptive daughter, Judith, together on the fields outside the walls of Alexandria. Considering the confirmed time jump since season 8's finale, Alexandria may have been rebuilt by the survivors and the world may be a safer place since we last joined “The Walking Dead's” cast.

Fans may find this scene all the more heartbreaking considering that Andrew Lincoln has already confirmed that “The Walking Dead” season 9 will be his last season on the show. It is now definite that the ideal scenario in the photo will not last long as conflict will return to the survivors of Alexandria, Hilltop, and the Sanctuary.
While the story may start out peaceful for “The Walking Dead” season 9, the world is still a dangerous place. Angela Kang points out that the show's survivors will be relying less on guns and ammunition due to its continuing scarcity. Kang highlights how Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon will be sporting a pair of knives, which will become his trusted weapons for season 9.
The biggest hints that Kang drops for “The Walking Dead” season 9 include graffiti on Sanctuary's walls, which read “We are still Negan,” and a picture of Michonne holding a bloody baseball bat that may be Lucille. This may be the biggest clue as to how Rick Grimes will be meeting his end in season 9 – at the hands of a revolution of Negan's loyalists or disgruntled survivors.
Fans looking forward to “The Walking Dead” season 9 can catch the show's premiere episode, airing on Oct. 7.
