AMC's hit zombie apocalypse-themed TV series will retain its usual schedule of production as the network recently confirmed the month when “The Walking Dead” season 9 will be released. Meanwhile, teasers and online posts hint at new hairstyles for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
AMC recently updated the official Facebook page of the series by uploading its latest cover photo. This ultimately confirmed that “The Walking Dead” season 9 will still premiere in fall — specifically in the month of October.
Fans of the TV series might have learned by now that October has consistently become the title’s month of release. However, its actual air date has varied in the previous eight seasons. But if fans would speculate when “The Walking Dead” season 9 will actually start, the schedule for seasons 7 and 8 might give some clues.
It can be recalled that for the latest two installments of the show, it premiered on Oct. 23, 2016 for season 7 while season 8 started on Oct. 22, 2017. So, if AMC and the production team will maintain its cycle for the past two years, there is a good chance that “The Walking Dead” season 9 will air its first episode on Sunday, Oct. 21. But without any confirmation from AMC, it is still best to take this with a pinch of salt.
While fans await the release of “The Walking Dead” season 9, some online posts and updates are suggesting that both Rick and Negan could be seen in all-new hairstyles. In Rick’s case, the official teaser photo for “The Walking Dead” season 9 obviously shows that the main protagonist will be donning a much shorter and cleaner haircut and beard.

On the other hand, the speculations that Negan is also having a completely different look for “The Walking Dead” season 9 come from Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s recent social media post. Last week, the actor shared a vacation photo — which was reposted by the official “The Walking Dead” Twitter page — where Morgan is seen with a shaved haircut while his “beard is (mostly) gone” as well.
However, reports suggest that Morgan might have started donning his new haircut after the filming of “The Walking Dead” season 9. But it would also make sense if the top rival characters will both be seen with new looks in the upcoming installment of the series.
