Shortly after “The Umbrella Academy” debuted on Netflix, it immediately caught the attention of many TV series fans around the world. Over a month since the premiere, the company has yet to renew the series for season 2. As it turns out, even its cast members are clueless about the show’s future, too.
Tom Hopper and Emmy Raver-Lampman who played Luther Hargreeves a.k.a Number One and Allison Hargreeves a.k.a Number Three, respectively, attended the Birmingham MCM Comic Con last weekend. As expected, they faced some questions about “The Umbrella Academy” season 2.
Unfortunately, Raver-Lampman can only tell fans, “I wish! Call up Netflix.” The statement clearly indicates that no decision has been made yet about “The Umbrella Academy” season 2.
Meanwhile, Hooper recognized that “The Umbrella Academy” season 2 has been widely discussed by fans who appreciated the show and that it could be a good sign for the show’s future. “Until I turned up here today, you get an idea that the show’s doing well with a bit of online chat, and people call you up and say, ‘watched the show, man, it’s great,’” Hooper added.
Thank you for the role of a lifetime! I will always look back and say wow that was the coolest role I ever played! #Netflix #UCP #darkhorse #gerardway #gabrielba pic.twitter.com/9LoWBTC6Uy

Aidan Gallagher, who played Number Five, has also been addressing rumors on whether “The Umbrella Academy” season 2 has been renewed or canceled by Netflix. The 15-year-old actor previously tweeted that he will always “look back” and say that the time-traveling young man was the “coolest role [he] ever played.”

Reactions from worried fans caught the attention of Daily Express, which ran a story asking if Gallagher was hinting at not reprising his role if Netflix orders “The Umbrella Academy” season 2. Earlier this week, Gallagher shared a link of the report commenting he stands by the tweet in question and then asking what could have been unclear about his statement.
A misquote out of context taken from a magazine in LA and distorted for spin by a website in the UK does NOT equate to a Season 2 confirmation. Sorry. It's been real. https://t.co/jz3NgWoC0O

Last week, Gallagher shared a screenshot of another headline from a Metro.co.uk article that seemed to suggest “The Umbrella Academy” season 2 would be released. However, the former Nickelodeon star argued that the quote used in this report was taken “out of context” and it does “not equate to a Season 2 confirmation.” This time, he ended his post saying, “Sorry. It’s been real.” Note that the last sentence is a popular expression that usually means goodbye or used to mark the end of a good experience.
