While brands like Canon and Nikon are still household names in the high-end professional camera business, they have become a little stale in terms of innovative ideas. This has allowed Sony to come up from behind and steal the spotlight on more than one occasion. Its latest offering in the A9 may be its greatest achievement yet, handily competing with the Canon 1D series.
As Gizmodo reports, Sony recently made the bold claim that it has become the second-best selling manufacturer of cameras in the full-frame category. These are basically those bulky, super powerful units that only professionals and rich people with photography as their hobbies bother to get.
In any case, what really makes the A9 a standout offering is its fast-speed focus and capture aspect that makes the jobs of photographers much easier. Any professional would be familiar with the challenges of getting that perfect shot when the lens is still trying to focus on the target.
With the A9, photographers can shoot up to 20 frames of quality imagery in one second thanks to the 1/32,000 second shutter speed. That’s 4 frames more than the Canon 1D X Mark II.
In terms of the quality of the photos taken during that blistering barrage of clicks, the A9 ensures perfectly captured pictures thanks to the 693 focus points it’s equipped with, Slash Gear notes. This makes shooting objects or animals moving at high speeds much easier, which will then produce crisp photos.
Aside from the advantage in the point-and-click sector, the A9 also comes with a fascinating quirk called an Ethernet port. Most modern digital cameras already come with Wi-Fi connection, which is great. However, by including an Ethernet port, Sony has provided potential users with a means of increasing the transfer speed of images and videos to storage units significantly. This makes the A9 perfect for those who want high-quality shots and to empty the camera’s storage as fast as possible.
