SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 27, 2017 -- The Other Art Fair presented by Saatchi Art (“TOAF” or the “Fair”), the U.K.’s leading art fair for discovering emerging artists, returns to New York this Fall at the Brooklyn Expo Center November 9-12. Unlike traditional art fairs that cater to galleries, TOAF gives buyers unparalleled direct access to artists, and pairs emerging art with experiential programming, appealing to a new generation of art collectors. TOAF New York will present over 100 emerging artists from across the globe.
This past June, the inaugural U.S. Fair hosted over 8,000 attendees and sold hundreds of works directly by the artists, hailing from multiple countries across the globe. With many original works available for under $1,000, TOAF New York’s accessible variety of artworks makes it easy for art lovers to begin collecting and provides a carefully curated platform for artist discovery.
The New York Fair will feature a diverse group of artists from countries including France, Japan, Canada, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland, among others, including Sylvie Hamou, Tricia Lorach, Isabella Di Sclafani, Naomi Yuki and Christian De Wulf. London-based artist Cody Choi and New York-based artist Xan Padron are two of the returning artists slated to participate at the Fair this fall.
The Saatchi Art Talks program, led by Saatchi Art’s Chief Curator and TOAF New York selection committee member Rebecca Wilson, will be hosted in the Saatchi Art Lounge. Through this engaging program, artists, collectors and cultural influencers will gather to discuss a range of topics relating to the global emerging art scene, as well as investing in artworks priced at under $1,000. Additionally, attendees will get an exclusive look at the newly launched Limited by Saatchi Art, a new way to buy limited edition prints from some of Saatchi Art’s most exciting emerging artists.
The artists featured in each edition of TOAF are chosen by a committee of influential art experts and tastemakers to ensure fair attendees are given access to a promising and talented roster of emerging artists. This year’s U.S. selection committee includes: Rebecca Wilson (Chief Curator, Saatchi Art), Maria Brito (Art Advisor, Curator, Collector, Author), Ashley Stewart (Director of Sales, Salon 94), Jessamyn Fiore (Curator, Author & Co-Director of The Estate of Gordon Matta-Clark), Emily Steer (Deputy Editor, Elephant Magazine) and Amber Harper (Assistant Curator, The Drawing Center).
