‘The Magicians’ season 2’s episode 6, titled “The Cock Barrens,” will follow Quentin attempting to summon Alice. It remains unknown whether he will succeed in bringing her back from the dead.
The brief synopsis for “The Cock Barrens” posted on TV Guide reads, “Quentin (Jason Ralph) strives to help a friend who is suffering; Eliot (Hale Appleman) and Margo's (Summer Bishil) negotiations take a shocking turn; Julia (Stella Maeve) and Kady (Jade Tailor) discover a possible key to stopping Reynard (Mackenzie Astin).”
In the sneak peak for episode 6, Eliot and Margo watch Quentin try and summon Alice (Olivia Taylor Dudley) back from the dead with strange dance moves. The two look like they are not enjoying Quentin’s routine at all. Eliot, who couldn’t stand it any longer, wonders out loud why they need to summon Alice through an act that looks like a mix of Tai-chi and ballet.
When Eliot comments that it must have been something to do with Quentin’s intimate relationship with Alice, Quentin retorts, “No! It’s Cirque du Soleil. You know, Cirque du Soleil? It was something I would do to cheer her up when she was sad. It made her laugh.”
Eliot asks Margo about the possibility of the success of the summoning to which she replies, “Yes, but be warned he wants to reason with her. She was working on some sort of reversal spell. He thinks he can somehow finish it. He’s convinced she wants him to.”
The High King and Queen of Fillory tell Quentin to stop after he attempts to re-do the routine all over again saying that his efforts may be in vain considering that Alice is gone for good. Quentin insists, “Since I saw her, it felt so real.” Eliot suggests they return to the castle to get some rest and that Quentin help them with some of the kingdom’s problems to distract him from the idea of Alice.
Alice was the Queen of Fillory. She was a talented and natural magician, who Quentin met while attending Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy. Although she is initially quiet and shy around people, she is prone to angry outbursts and could become reckless with dangerous magic.
According to The Mary Sue, Alice met her human end during an intense confrontation with the villainous Beast. Alice fought the Beast with Quentin, who realized at that point that he was not the chosen one.
When the Beast threatened Quentin’s life by choking him, Alice immediately went to stab the Beast with a sword but realized that this has disappeared. The Beast then cast a spell on Alice that caused blood to run down her nose until she collapsed and was presumed dead.
‘The Magicians’ season 2’s episode 6, titled “The Cock Barrens,” is scheduled to air on Syfy on March 1, 2017. It will be followed by episode 7, titled "Plan B," directed by Chris Fisher and scheduled to be released on March 8.
