‘The Magicians’ Season 2, Episode 10 Spoilers: “The Girl Who Told Time" – Quentin Struggles to Help Julia in New Search; Hale Appleman Teases Eliot’s Fate

‘The Magicians’ season 2’s episode 10, titled “The Girl Who Told Time," is set to follow Quentin as he struggles to help Julia in her new search. Meanwhile, actor Hale Appleman teased Eliot’s fate in the upcoming episodes.

The synopsis for “The Girl Who Told Time” posted on TV Guide reads, “Quentin (Jason Ralph) helps Julia (Stella Maeve) with her search; Eliot (Hale Appleman) endeavors to win over his people, as Margo (Summer Bishil) tries to keep a devastating secret; Penny (Arjun Gupta) and Kady (Jade Tailor) are caught between two magical factions.”

Quentin is set on helping his friend Julia with her new mission. The promo for the upcoming episode opens to Quentin seemingly in a dream sequence as he looks at a young girl with shock and confusion. He then asks, “Julia, why do you look like a 12-year old?” The girl replies, “Because I’m her shade.”

Quentin then tells the present-day Julia about his experience. He says, “I talked to your shade. She wants us to find her.” In the next scene, Quentin and Julia are told about a person who is interested in shades and that they may know her. Julia then makes up her mind to find this person and talk to her.

Meanwhile, Eliot will attempt to win over the people of Fillory as the High King. In the previous episode, titled “Lesser Evils,” Eliot and Margo had to march to battle but opted for a surprise musical number instead of a war cry. According to ET, actor Hale Appleman expected the musical to come at “some point” in the show but didn’t expect to belt out a rendition of “One Day More” from ‘Les Miserables.’

Appleman said, "It totally blew my mind because I had done Les Mis when I was a kid in high school and I played Javert but [The Magicians showrunner John McNamera] didn’t know that when they wrote that [episode] so it was super strange." 

He continued, “"You only have so long to prepare for a TV schedule musical performance and so every day I wasn’t shooting I was working on my sword skills… It was a whirlwind, that episode. It was really, really grueling for me and I did as best as I could in the time that I had.”

During another interview on Blastr, Appleman teased Eliot’s arc in the upcoming episodes saying, “I guess you could say Eliot is becoming more comfortable in a position of leadership, which is something that he always innately had, but he's rising to his new position.”

He added, “In some quite admirable ways, he is taking the charge and trying to save his kingdom and unite his friends at the same time. I think that sort of puts him in the hero category. I am proud of that, and Eliot is an unlikely hero.”

Meanwhile, Margo will struggle to keep a devastating secret while Penny and Kady are caught in the middle of two magical groups.

‘The Magicians’ season 2’s episode 10, titled “The Girl Who Told Time," is scheduled to premiere on Syfy on March 29, 2017. It will be followed by episode 11, titled "The Rattening," scheduled to be released on April 5.
