'The Last of Us Part II' Latest News & Update: Series Creator Throws Shade at ‘RDR2’

One of the most highly anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusives that fans are dying to play, “The Last of Us Part II” owes its hype to the excellent quality of the first game. One of the folks behind that title is Bruce Straley who has also helped in the creation of other impressive video games like the “Uncharted” series. In a recent Tweet, this legendary video game designer threw shade at Rockstar for “Red Dead Redemption 2.”

As Comic Book noted, Straley’s work is well-known in the video game industry during his time at Naughty Dog. His contributions to pushing the quality of the titles produced by the studio to the greatest heights are in no small part thanks to him. His commitment is one of the reasons why “The Last of Us Part II” is so highly anticipated. As such, it’s safe to say that he knows what he is talking about when it comes to video games.

Recently, he revealed that he has an issue with Rockstar’s “Red Dead Redemption 2” during a discussion about a particular mission in the critically-acclaimed game. He didn’t appreciate his freedom being restricted with regards to how he would play. This is understandable since, much like “The Last of Us Part II,” the open-world western title is supposed to provide players with plenty of room to adapt.

“The game killed me when I tried to flank in that mission - like so many RDR2 story missions. They need me to do what the story requires & continually remove my choices. The env was open & I had the skills, but they punished me for thinking for myself instead of rewarding me,” Staley Tweeted.

This caused a bit of a split within the community, with some agreeing with Staley and others not. Fans can only hope that this doesn’t affect “The Last of Us Part II” in any negative manner. After all, hardcore gamers can be quite irrational about these things.
