It has been over a month since “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was confirmed. The announcement of the second season was accompanied by a brief trailer featuring Tatsuya and Miyuki along with a new girl, and that is Angelina Kudou Shields.
Angelina, who later be referred to as Lina, is actually not a new character in the animated version of the franchise. However, Lina’s arrival in “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is going to be her debut in the canon anime series.

“The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will likely open with a prologue where Lina could be first shown as Major Angie Sirius, who is the commander of the Stars unit. She apprehends a rogue officer who deserted an experiment by the United States of North America (USNA) that deals with black hole matter.
This is an important scene because it introduces the main conflict in the Visitor Arc, which is the source material for “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2. Later on, Lina will be sent to Japan under a student exchange program. But her real objective is to spy on the Shiba siblings, especially Tatsuya. He is being suspected as the perpetrator of the experiment’s failure.

It is only been confirmed that “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will be released in 2020. Fans will still have to wait for other details such as the specific premiere date as well as the number of episodes.
Since “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is only covering the Visitor Arc that covers three volumes, fewer episodes should be anticipated. Season 1 had 26 episodes but covered stories from volumes 1 through 8.
