The year 2020 is a good one for those who have been waiting for “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 since 2014. The anime’s renewal was confirmed last fall, and the good news did not stop there when it was revealed that they will not have to wait too long for the arrival of the new episodes.
Avid fans will also appreciate that the producers decided to use the canon timeline and story for “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2. Instead of picking up from the original film animation released in 2017, the upcoming season will pick up from the events that follow the two-part Yokohama Disturbance arc.

It took more than five years before “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was announced, but fans have probably forgotten about all those years they spent waiting. The next adventures of siblings Tatsuya Shiba and Miyuki Shiba will finally continue this year.
The confirmation of the anime series’ renewal was followed shortly after by the announcement of the release date window. “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is now confirmed to join the 2020 summer lineup of anime premieres as new episodes arrive starting in July.
Fans will still need to be a little bit more patient, though. Producers are unlikely to announce a specific release date until a month or a few weeks before the actual release of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2.

Tatsuya was at the center of the overall plot of season 1. The 26-episode anime debut ended by highlighting his capabilities and practically turning him into a hero. His mastery of the Material Burst prevented an even more destructive war, but it also has its negative effects that will be the main premise of the Visitor Arc to be tackled in “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2.
Tatsuya’s specialty magic will make him a target of international forces, which will also lead him to meet a new unlikely ally named Angelina Kudou Shields. Fans may recognize her from the 2017 film as well. “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is confirmed to also cover just one arc.
