‘The Flash’ Season 3’s New Antagonist to put Barry’s Identity in Danger; Candice Patton Talks Barry-Iris Relationship

‘The Flash’ season 3 new antagonist may put Barry’s identity in danger. Meanwhile, Candice Patton teased some details of her character’s romance with Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen in the incoming season.

According to TV Line, a new character recruited into the incoming season of the popular television series will pose some problems for Barry Allen as he struggles to keep his superhero identity secret.

When asked about a potential villain, columnist Michael Ausiello hinted, “For Season 3, the CW hit is casting the major recurring character of Barry’s slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive. As such, this newcomer doesn’t buy Barry’s nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he’s hiding — all while concealing some secrets of his own….”

Ausiello also admitted that no word of a possible appearance for the antagonistic Mirror Master has been confirmed as of the moment. According to Moviepilot, Mirror Master’s inclusion into the series would be entirely probable as he is already a recurring character in the original comic books by DC. The pseudonym is used by several enemies and was originally used by Sam Scudder and was succeeded by a Scottish assassin named Evan McCulloch.

Mirror Master is known to possess incredible powers through the use of mirrors. These include hypnotism, invisibility, physical transformations, and holograms. He also has the ability to travel through parallel dimensions and universes.

Other possible antagonists that may make a long-overdue appearance on the series include Doctor Alchemy, Godspeed, Gorilla Grodd, and Black Flash.

Meanwhile, Candice Patton teased Iris West and Barry Allen’s romance for the upcoming season during an interview with Newsweek. She said, “Anything is possible with what Barry’s done. It’ll be interesting to see what Barry’s actions cause in the timeline we’ve come to know in the past two seasons…"

She added, "Fans are anxiously waiting to figure out if West/Allen has been erased. I think fans can rest assured, we’ve established on this show, Barry and Iris have a relationship that’s destined. They’ll find each other on different timelines and multiverses.”

Patton plays Iris, a journalist for Central City news, Barry’s best friend and an active member of Team Flash.

‘The Flash’ was renewed by The CW for a third season last March. No official confirmation of a release date has been announced as of the present.
