‘The Flash’ season 3 will feature a brand new mysterious villain. The yet identified speedster was photographed alongside Barry Allen a.k.a the Flash and Kid Flash on set. Meanwhile, a newly released poster showed all the “Arrowverse” heroes together.
According to Den of Geek, new on-set photographs teased the latest antagonist for the incoming season. The images posted on Twitter showed a character dressed head-to-toe in black with a flash symbol on his chest, reminiscent of last season’s villain Zoom. He was seen working alongside Keiynan Lonsdale’s Kid Flash as well as Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen a.k.a. Flash.
The mysterious speedster whose name is yet to be revealed was rumored to be Todd Lasance of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘Spartacus’ fame. He was speculated to be the character named Black Racer from the original DC comic books but this is yet to be made official by The CW.
The Black Racer is known to be a physical manifestation of death and first appeared on the DC Comics’ ‘New Gods #3’ issue that was published on July 1971. The character was created by Jack Kirby.
He is an immortal entity with powers of flight, superhuman speed and strength, and fatal touch. He also has the ability to take complete control of a chosen host and sometimes possesses claws on his fingertips. He uses cosmic skis that allow him to soar through the skies.
According to Collider, another likely candidate for the character would be Daniel West. He is the latest to take over the role of Reverse-Flash following the departure of Eobard Thawne and Hunter Zolomon. In the original comic books, Daniel West is the son of William West and the younger brother of Iris and Rudy.
Daniel first appeared on ‘Flash vol. 4 #0’ published on November 2012. The character is known to possess superhuman speed and strength as well as the power to rewind time. He uses the power of Speed Force to travel back in time.
The character has claw-like appendages on each of his fingertips and can project sharp metal projectiles from his body and conducts electricity with them. He is skilled in hand-to-hand combat as well as tracking.
Meanwhile, the heroes of The CW’s “Arrowverse” have taken center stage in a new poster released ahead of the upcoming Comic-Con to be held in San Diego, California. The poster posted on Carter Matt showed the Flash, Supergirl, the Green Arrow and the heroes of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ together. Speculations of a possible pilot with all of these character combined have emerged but this is yet to be confirmed.
‘The Flash’ is a superhero television series that airs on The CW. It was developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns and is part of the network’s “Arrowverse”. The series premiered on October 2014 and was well received by critics and fans alike.
Season 3 was renewed last March 2016 and is scheduled to premiere on The CW on October 4, 2016.
