The showrunners of “The Blacklist” Season 6 just released the first five minutes of the premiere episode of its sixth installment and it is hilariously gripping. It started off with a bank robbery involving a bunch of amateur criminals.
After having everyone drop to the ground, the robbers noticed a man standing around looking amused and bewildered. The man, of course, is none other than Raymond “Red” Reddington himself. He orders everyone around like he owns the place and then demands half of the robbers’ money in exchange for a clean getaway. But not everything went according to plan and the robbers ended up breathing pavement by the end of the promo. Red, on the other hand, was seen driving safely away. However, the master criminal will still be incarcerated in “The Blacklist” Season 6 as was seen in another trailer.
But given that Red is involved, it’s likely that he planned to be arrested in the first place. If people like Red are in prison, it means that they want to be there and being in prison is merely another piece on the board that’s been moved. Meanwhile, Liz (Megan Boone) will be teaming up with her half-sister Jennifer (Fiona Dourif) in an attempt to uncover the real identity of Reddington. Throughout “The Blacklist” Season 6, Liz and Red will be involved in a cat-and-mouse pursuit that will shed more light to the enigma that is the criminal genius.
Showrunner Jon Bokenkamp said that Liz will not be employing a by-the-book procedure to acquire information about Red. This is not surprising given who she’s dealing with and how the series has molded her character to be a cold-hearted FBI operative. As such, Liz will likely commit some questionable acts in “The Blacklist” Season 6 while simultaneously capturing other criminals that is on the priority list of the agency. As for when the sixth installment will air, the premiere episode is slated for release on Jan. 3 with the second episode following a day after on Jan. 4.
