“The Blacklist” season 6 is coming to NBC again for a 22-episode run and this was confirmed when it was renewed in May. The renewal was expected since the show has been one of the network's top raters since its debut in 2013.
“The Blacklist” is about a missing fugitive who turned into an informant after making a deal with the FBI. He surrendered after 20 years in hiding and to avert prosecution, he told the FBI that he has a list of the world’s most wanted criminals and their illegal operations. In exchange for his freedom, he eventually became a confidential informant who led authorities to fugitives.
Cast
Actor James Spader plays Raymond “Red” Reddington and in his role, he has already won two Golden Globe awards for his excellent work. Other key players in “The Blacklist” season 6 include Megan Boone (Liz Keen), Diego Klattenhoff (Donald Ressler) and Amir Arison (Aram Mojtabai).
Filming
“The Blacklist” season 6 kicked off filming last year but unlike most TV shows that share behind-the-scenes images or clips, the cast and crew kept details of their filming to themselves. Then again, on a rare occasion, Megan Boone posted a picture that gave fans a glimpse of the cast and crew while at work.
In August, via Instagram, she teased fans with an image of “The Blacklist” season 6 filming and that single snap was enough to excite the fans even more. They commented that seeing the photo, they couldn’t wait for the series to premiere.
Storyline
The official plot of "The Blacklist" Season 6 has yet to be released but previously, show creator Jon Bokenkamp shared some details of what can be expected in the upcoming installment.
Liz already knows that Red is her father after confirming this via DNA test. There were theories that there is a possibility that Red manipulated the results and pretended not to know about being related to Liz but Bokenkamp seemed to suggest that the two are really related. He told Entertainment Tonight, “Elizabeth Keen has been acquiring over the past five years, not only from Reddington, who she certainly has been influenced by and learned from but also from Tom Keen, her husband who was also not only an impostor but a spy.”
Fans will see Liz’s character turning dark since it runs in her blood. The showrunner disclosed that viewers will witness changes in her in “The Blacklist” season 6.
“She has some skills that are a little bit on the dark side,” Bokenkamp shared. “The growth of her (Megan) character -- watching her grow over the five seasons, but more specifically this season; I don't know if she's embracing the darkness, but she's certainly changing.”
Meanwhile, “The Blacklist” season 6’s premiere is still unknown but based on estimations, it will drop sometime in 2019.
