As “The 100” season 6 opens up to an entirely new planet, it is also likely that the TV series adaptation moves on to succeeding events told in the books. For one, there are speculations that Bellamy (Bob Morley) and Clarke (Eliza Taylor) could be getting engaged.

“The 100” TV series is loosely based on the novel saga of the same title written by Kass Morgan. The fourth book is titled “The 100: Rebellion” and reports suggest that showrunner Jason Rothenberg could be drawing inspiration from it in writing “The 100” season 6.

One highlight storyline in “The 100: Rebellion” is composed of the ups and downs of Clarke and Bellamy’s relationship. At one point, Clarke started thinking that Bellamy is suffering from paranoia, which was later dismissed after they were attacked by the so-called Protectors. The couple faced more challenges and misunderstandings amid rescue missions. But after resolving their issues, Bellamy ended up proposing to Clarke.

Meanwhile, a report from The Daily Express takes this plot theory to the next level by suggesting that Bellamy and Clarke could be getting married in “The 100” season 6. However, the report’s bases for the plot theory are the events in “The 100: Rebellion” as well. Notably, the book ended only with Bellamy and Clarke’s engagement.

There is also chance that the characters’ engagement might not be part of “The 100” season 6 at all. While Rothenberg originally developed the show's premise from the novel, the showrunner has already gone for a lot of changes in the TV show adaptation.

In fact, he told IGN earlier this month, “I don't really consider the books at all anymore when we're writing this show. In fact, they're a totally different thing. … I created the pilot parallel to Kass [Morgan] writing the book and that's why they're so different. We have been following our own roadmap.”

Jason Rothenberg's statement above was also his explanation when asked why season 5 ended with the title card that reads “End of Book One.” So, in Rothenberg’s perspective, “The 100” season 6 is where “book two” begins. The showrunner further explained, “In my mind, the end of Book One means the first five seasons were Book One of the encyclopedia of 'The 100' adventures and Book Two begins as they set down on this new planet next year.”

The CW is yet to schedule a premiere date for “The 100” season 6. But if writing for what’s practically the show’s “book two” will not take more time than usual, fans might see “The 100” return in 2019.
