With the Kickstarter campaign by “Night Drive Studios” surpassing its original goal of $900,000, the developers can now remake the video game “System Shock” with the funding required. Aside from the enthusiasm from the backers, however, the company also faced overwhelming demand from “PlayStation 4” owners who wanted to play the game on their console. As a result, “Night Drive Studios” had to shift some of their priorities in order to accommodate the request.
The remake of the psychological thriller video game will be coming to the “PS4” in 2018, Polygon reports. With the addition of the console by Sony, “System Shock” will be hosted by three of the biggest platforms in the gaming industry; not counting mobile games. As for why the developers decided to add the “PS4” to the roster, project director Jason Fader wrote in an update that it was because the demand from owners of the console was too loud.
"After we saw the overwhelming demand for PS4, we reshuffled our priorities and focused on talking to Sony about making that happen," the update read. "After a few weeks and lotttts [sic] of emails, we are officially on track for bringing System Shock to the PS4! No stretch goal for it. We're adding it in as a thank you to our backers that put their faith in us."
Initially, the Kickstarter campaign for the remake was set at $900,000, but it has since reached $1 million. For those who pledged $50 or more, they get access to the closed beta of the game.
Owners of PC and “Xbox One” platforms will be getting the game earlier than PS4 owners, according to Tech Times, with the developers aiming for a December 2017 release date for the original targets. Fader explained that this was necessary in order to make sure that the game runs well on all platforms as porting a title from one gaming medium to another requires time to perfect.
