The poster features season 3's title, "Alicization," with Alice, Kirito, and Eugeo prominently featured.
The third season was already announced by SwordArtUSA to air in October last March but the series' trailer has only been recently revealed.
The trailer brings back Kirito, one of the original beta testers for “Sword Art Online.” It also introduces the world created by the Soul Translator, a fourth-generation FullDive machine. It also mentions certain key characters that will play key roles in the show's third season, such as Eugeo and Alice, who will have very important relationships with the hero, Kirito.
“Sword Art Online” season 3 is set to adapt the Alicization arc, which is currently covered by volumes nine to 18 of the arc of Reki Kawahara’s light novel series. In the arc, Kirito is offered a job by Kikuoka Seijirou, a VR crimes division member of Rath -- the mysterious company with ties to the Japanese government and the Japanese Self Defense Force -- to test a new FullDrive machine, the Soul Translator.
Kirito is tasked to interact with the denizens of the Soul Translator as part of Rath's experiment to learn about the AI they have produced. Kirito and Kikuoka have already worked together before but "Alicization" will focus on the importance of the Soul Translator and how its secrets are tied to Rath's self-serving plans.
It seems that “Sword Art Online's” season 3 is still on track for its October air date, as per the official website. All the fans have to do is get hyped for more teasers for this exciting upcoming season.
