“Sword Art Online: Alicization” Episode 2 promises a lot of answers for fans of the series with regards to what this new arc is about and what awaits Kirito. It would appear that instead of simply being a VRMMO character, he has become something of an Isekai protagonist. For those who may not know where to watch the episode online, there are platforms featured below.
For those who have not watched the first episode of the new anime, “Sword Art Online: Alicization” Episode 2 continues the story of Kirito who is now playing games for a living. That is to say, he was hired by a mega-corporation called the Rath Company on something called “Soul Translator,” OtakuKart reports. At the end of the first episode, Kirito got stabbed with a syringe and now, he finds himself trapped in a simulator that he is currently working on.
It’s also worth pointing out that the technology that Kirito is helping build actually steals people’s memories. As such, it isn’t surprising that “Sword Art Online: Alicization” Episode 2 features some odd flashbacks. Moving on, though, it would appear that Kirito is unable to use the interface that is usually available to him in this simulator in the manner that he is used to. As such, it isn’t like being trapped in a VRMMO in the broad sense.
Rather, “Sword Art Online: Alicization” Episode 2 has just turned Kirito into an Isekai character, which is basically where the protagonist is transported into another world without knowing how or why. This adds an entirely new layer to the story of the new series, so far.
Titled “The Demon Tree,” “Sword Art Online: Alicization” Episode 2 can be viewed online via Crunchyroll or other official channels every Sunday. Fans who truly want to support this series are advised to watch the episode via these platforms, as well, since they directly support the anime industry.
