Suri Cruise is now 12-years-old and the young teen has managed life without the guidance of her father, Tom Cruise. Or at least, in the last five years of it.
While rumors run abound on the web purporting that Tom Cruise is ready to return to the life of Suri Cruise, there’s no concrete evidence to support this claim. The “Top Gun” alum has time and again proven that the Church of Scientology is his main priority apart from the Hollywood projects he’s involved in.
Tom Cruise even lives in Clear Water Florida, a mere block away from the international headquarters of the organization. Suri Cruise, on the other hand, is living with Katie Holmes in New York City.
Apparently, the two has not seen each other for over five years as they were last seen together in September 2013, a year after Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes officially divorced. Although Suri Cruise seems to be doing fine without her dad, it’s actually detrimental for a child to grow up without a father.
This is doubly true since the little girl is now a teenager, a crucial stage where individuals develop the identity that would define them in the coming years. According to Michael Austin, associate professor of philosophy at Eastern Kentucky University, having a father is an integral piece in building self-esteem and self-image for teenagers. While Suri Cruise undoubtedly has both of these traits already established, it’s important that a father figure solidifies it to ensure that the foundation is strong.
However, since Tom Cruise has repeatedly demonstrated that Suri Cruise isn’t on his priority list, it seems that this crucial factor in the 12-year-old’s life will have to be met by someone else. Fortunately, Katie Holmes is always there for her daughter and is trying her best to fill the void that Tom Cruise left behind.
Even though the “Mission Impossible” star is permitted to visit his daughter for 10 days each month, the actor hasn’t practiced this right for over five years. Right now, Suri Cruise is busy with her own personal life as she continues to attend the Sacred Heart Catholic School trying to achieve the expectations of her mom.
