“Steven Universe” season 6 is not yet officially confirmed, but fans should not be disappointed because it is still happening. Moreover, despite the lack of updates from Cartoon Network, the animation series is sure to arrive as this was already hinted by the show’s creator Rebecca Sugar and former executive producer Ian Jones-Quartey.
Contrary to the reports that the show has already ended with season 5’s “Change Your Mind” finale, that was not the last episode for the whole series. For people who have assumed that the “Steven Universe: The Movie” will serve as a replacement for season 6, this is also a false claim because “Steven Universe” season 6 is still in the cards.
The newest baddie is coming?
In fact, it was suggested that a new villain might be coming to “Steven Universe” season 6. This idea cropped up after the poster for the movie version was released on July 9. In the image, Steven (Zach Callison) was with Garnet (Estelle), Amethyst (Michaela Dietz) and Pearl (Deedee Magno) and all of them are standing on the edge of a cliff. It was a good image of them but lurking behind them was a dark shadow, and it gives an eerie feeling that he or she was up to no good.
This could be the new villain who will face Steven and the gang of gems. As to who it could be, it said that there is a possibility, it is Aquamarine because she is visibly absent in the poster. She could have turned bad after she merged with someone else’s body who is from the dark side.
What will happen in the next season?
In a podcast, Rebecca Sugar and Ian Jones-Quartey shared some hints on what to expect in “Steven Universe” season 6. They revealed that it would show Steven’s growth as he got to know more about himself in the previous “Change Your Mind” episode.
Rebecca and Ian discussed about Steven's early life and how his personality developed. They said that in “Steven Universe” season 6, they had planned big achievement milestones for their matured hero. Meanwhile, the release of the sixth installment may happen in the fall this year.
