“Steven Universe” season 6 just ended before the new year, and this means that the first run of “Steven Universe Future” has already concluded. With this, the question is whether there will be new season or fans will be left hanging on a thread again as they wait for any announcement.
The final episodes of “Steven Universe” season 6 was released on Dec. 28 on Cartoon Network. Two episodes titled “Little Graduation” and “Prickly Pair” have officially closed the sixth installment, and everyone saw Steven and the Gems celebrating the very first graduation in the Little Homeschool that they set up. Fans also saw the chubby protagonist enjoying a new hobby, which is growing plants, but what is next after this?
‘Steven Universe Future’ epilogue - What it is?
Before the question of whether there will be “Steven Universe Future” season 2 or not, it is important that fans must know that this short series was designed to be an epilogue. Its aim was to tie the loose ends left in the “Steven Universe” season 5 finale titled “Change Your Mind.”
It showed what happened after Steven found out he is a pink gem and learned about his mother’s bad deeds. He decided not to be like her and moved to make amends with the gems she hurt. He also brought back the corrupted gems to the right way so they will not cause trouble anymore and be enlighten that they are not enemies after all.
Will there be season 2 or “Steven Universe” season 7?
Now, since it was explained that “Steven Universe” season 6 that was also called “Steven Universe Future” is really an epilogue, The Cinemaholic opined that it could be assumed that there will be no season 2 anymore. This is because the first season consisting of 10 episodes already clarified everything by tying up loose ends in the story.
It already accomplished its goal, so “Steven Universe” season 2 is not likely to happen. Rather, Rebecca Sugar and her team could come up with new seasons and present stories about Steven now that he has grown mature.
