‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Leaked Scenes Fuel Numerous Fan Theories Regarding Rey’s Past, Teases Origins for Jedi Order

‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ scenes allegedly coming from the film itself have been leaked online. This fueled numerous fan theories regarding Rey’s past and also teased the origins of the Jedi Order.

According to MovieWeb, leaked spoilers from the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ film fueled a new group of fan theories aimed at addressing Rey’s mysterious past. The report by Comicbookmovie claimed that a source named Stormtrooper Larry leaked part of the script online. It contained a scene between Rey, Luke Skywalker, and even Yoda.

The leaked scene began with Luke attempting to help Rey understand the origin of the Force by showing her a vision of a girl and a boy playing near a tree in an alien planet. The two eventually get into a bad argument, which results in the boy killing off the girl. He touches the tree and is “transformed” before he kills his parents and leaves the planet.

Meanwhile, the girl is revealed to be alive with the help of the tree and goes on to form the first Jedi Order. She tells her followers that she will be reincarnated as either a boy or a girl in the next life and that this child must be trained as a Jedi Knight.

Luke then tells Rey that the Jedi Order has been searching for the One for a millennium. Anakin Skywalker was previously believed to be One but this didn’t turn out to be true.

The leak also revealed that Luke was not Rey’s father, as previously speculated. Luke tells Rey that the Force is strong within her and should begin her training. He gives her until sunset to make her choice.

Although the leak is yet to be confirmed as part of the actual upcoming film, the possibility of its authenticity remains. According to the Independent, a massive tree was previously photographed on the filming set. The idea of Force Trees was also introduced in Marvel’s limited series ‘Shattered Empire’, a four-part ‘Star Wars’ comic book series set between the events of ‘Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi’ and ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’.

To make things even more interesting, one of the stories in ‘Shattered Empire’ featured a Force Tree given to Poe Dameron’s mother. It was speculated that Poe and Rey are actually siblings after Poe’s mother conceived the latter near the Force Tree.

‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ is an upcoming space opera film written and directed by Rian Johnson. It stars Daisy Ridley as Rey, Oscar Isaac as Poe, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as Leia, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, and John Boyega as Finn. It is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman with J.J. Abrams, Tommy Harper, and Jason D. McGatlin executive producing.

It was preceded by J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Wars: VII – The Force Awakens’, which became the highest-grossing film in the entire ‘Star Wars’ franchise. The 2015 release earned $2.068 billion worldwide, against a production budget of $245 million.
