Despite the best attempts by many on the internet to sabotage “Captain Marvel,” the MCU film still performed like a champion on the box office. This is incredibly good news, especially for “Star Wars: Episode IX” since it means that trolls don’t have any power over moviegoers. It basically means that when the ninth episode of the space opera premieres, it is going to perform well despite what haters say.
As Forbes reports, “Captain Marvel” absolutely owning the U.S. domestic box office is good news for “Star Wars: Episode IX” for obvious reasons. Much like the most recent Marvel film to come out, the J.J. Abrams-directed flick is being bombarded by criticisms long before it is even released. Despite the initial fears that this may impact the movie’s success, this latest development proves that there is nothing to be afraid of.
While the anxiety posed by such senseless hatred for the film might not entirely go away, the money made by films like “Captain Marvel” and “Wonder Woman” allays much of the worries. Both of these movies were bombarded by sexist and misogynistic opinions, and both came out on top. “Star Wars: Episode IX” is similarly a target by the same hateful communities and will likely be the winner, in the end.
This fact was always assumed even as the waves of trolls came storming the beaches of reviews sites and the comment sections of various entertainment publications. It’s just good to have proof that despite the vitriol, quality still rules in the film industry. In this regard, “Star Wars: Episode IX” and those behind it have no reason to fear.
As for when exactly viewers can watch “Star Wars: Episode IX,” the film will be coming out Dec. 19. Fans expect more hatred from trolls to increase as that date looms to prove them wrong.
