Although it hasn’t been officially taken out of beta yet, the space adventure video game "Star Citizen" already has a sizeable number of followers enjoying what it has to offer. It has also been making quite a bit of money, thanks to the dedicated fans who have been purchasing in-game items to make their voyages in space more enjoyable. Clearly, the developers think that their legions of fans don’t mind shelling out cash since they just released a starter pack that’s worth $27,000.
Now, it’s worth pointing out that in exchange for that kind of money, you will be getting a ton of perks. This includes 117 ships, PCGamesN reports, with the Anvil Carrack and Aegis Sabre being among them. That is a staggering number of spacefaring vessels to choose from.
Along with the ships, 163 other items will also be provided, which include digital soundtracks. However, the only players who will be able to purchase this particular pack are those who have already spent a lot of money on the game.
This offer, which is called the Legatus Pack, can be found on the Roberts Space Industries page. Only members with the “Concierge” status will be able to purchase it, and to achieve such a storied label, players would need to spend up to $1,000 on in-game items, PC Gamer reports.
As the publication notes, few other games can even attempt to offer such a package to players than "Star Citizen." It has received over $200 million in backing from crowdfunding, which means that a lot of people have both the motivation and the resources to spend $27,000 on things they will never be able to physically own.
Last year, it even made $32 million in microtransactions. Players even have the option to buy plots of land in the game now, which cost around $100 each.
