The filming of “Space Jam 2” is in full swing for weeks now. NBA star LeBron James has been generous in sharing behind-the-scenes videos and photos now and then to keep fans excited about the upcoming movie. His latest social media update is extra special, though, as it might have shown that the Tune Squad jersey went through some design changes.
‘Space Jam 2’ spoilers: New Tune Squad jersey confirmed
James shared a series of Instagram Story videos on Tuesday to keep up with his weekly #TacoTuesday updates. For this week’s social media post, he greets fans while having a break during “Space Jam 2” filming and appears to have been shooting some basketball game scenes wearing the Tune Squad jersey.
Unfortunately for fans, James is covering the shirt with a gray towel on all videos posted and also confirmed that he cannot show it to everyone yet. He, however, allowed his 50.7 million Instagram followers to get a sneak peek of the future “Space Jam 2” merch.
For a split second, James showed a very small part of the “Space Jam 2” jersey that seemingly confirmed some of the changes made. The uniform Michael Jordan wore for the first movie was white with blue, white, and red trim. The one James was spotted wearing appear to be in a lighter shade of blue with navy blue and red lining.
It would not be surprising for “Space Jam 2” to have these small but important changes to set it apart from the first movie. The sequel will not be released in a couple of years, so it might take a while before the entire jersey is shown in a teaser trailer.
‘Space Jam 2’ cast, release date
So far, several NBA players are confirmed to join James in “Space Jam 2.” Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, and Damian Lillard will be in the movie along with Chinenye Ogwumike, Nneka Ogwumike, and Diana Tauras from the WNBA.
Some big names from Hollywood are going to be in “Space Jam 2” as well. Sonequa Martin-Green, from “The Walking Dead” and “Star Trek: Discovery,” will play the role of James’ wife and businesswoman Savannah James. Earlier this month, Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Don Cheadle also joined the cast, though details about his character remain unknown.
Filming of “Space Jam 2” officially started this summer. But the movie will not premiere until July 16, 2021.
