Hankook Tire's EV tire brand is the first in the world to offer a full lineup of tire products tires made especially for electric vehicles. While the company has already announced about its new unit, the products will be officially released in May. The Korean tire maker will be unveiling its iON tire brand in the European market first, then in August, the company will then debut the EV tire brand in South Korea.
As per The Korea Herald, Hankook's iON EV tire brand will be established with six products that are ready for sale. The sizes are from 18 to 22 inches, and these are designed for summer, winter, and all-season. The lineup is available for both sports utility vehicles and passenger cars.
The company said that its iON EV tires are specially made for high-performance, premium EV units. The Hankook Ventus iON A tire is the brand's all-season edition for the market in North America.
Hankook promised that its electric vehicle tires that will be arriving later are high-end options that offer minimal tire noise and increased driving range due to the highest performance in rolling resistance. With so many new EVs being introduced these days, the need for tires that are made for these types of vehicles is truly needed. Thus, Hankook really comes with the said tire products at the right time.
"With the introduction of this new iON tire family, our company is increasingly considering the rapidly growing demand for electric vehicles and the associated need for suitable tires, also in terms of the need for replacements," Lee Soo Il Lee, Hankook Tire and Technology chief executive officer, said in a press release. "With an improved range per battery charge, this new generation of tires will help to further optimize the efficiency of electric vehicles in everyday use."
Finally, Hankook Tire's new iON EV tire brand lineup meets the demanding requirements for EVs. It is expected that the tires to become popular soon among EV carmakers. The brand is already a very well-known name in the Formula One space.
