Sony Postpones PlayStation 5 Event Due to Anti-Racism Protests

The anti-racism protests had affected Japanese businesses in the US

Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC has postponed an online event to unveil games for its upcoming PlayStation 5 due to protests against racism across the United States connected with George Floyd's death.

The Sony Corp. unit had planned to hold the event on Friday.

According to an official PlayStation Twitter account, the company does not feel that it is a time for celebration, hence the postponement.

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said that the protest had affected some Japanese companies operating in the US, although no injuries its citizens have been confirmed.

At least one US dealership of Honda Motor Co. was damaged when the protests turned violent.
