Rebellion Developments has officially announced the release date for “Sniper Elite 5,” and confirmed that Xbox Game Pass members are getting the game on day one. The developer has also revealed the exclusive perks for fans who will pre-order the game.
“Sniper Elite 5” made some headlines earlier this week after it was one of the games mentioned in a group of leaked release dates from the Steam backend. Internal data reportedly showed the new installment was listed with a May 31 launch.
Fans can now confirm that it was just a placeholder date. Rebellion has announced “Sniper Elite 5” will be released on Thursday, May 26 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Windows Store.
The developer also confirmed “Sniper Elite 5” will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one. That means subscribers to Microsoft’s video game streaming service can enjoy the full game without paying for it at full price.
Rebellion has also started accepting pre-orders for “Sniper Elite 5” following the release date announcement. The Standard Edition (starts at $49.99) comes with the bonus mission “Target Führer: Wolf Mountain” and a digital copy of the “Sniper Elite: Resistance” graphic novel.
The “Sniper Elite 5” Deluxe Edition (starts at $79.99) will feature both these items plus the first Season Pass and a free P.1938 Suppressed Pistol, a weapon designed based on the Special Forces experimental prototype that Rebellion describes as a “powerful handgun” perfect for covert missions. The first Season Pass includes two additional campaign missions, six weapon packs, two weapon skin packs, and two character skin packs.
“Sniper Elite 5” will feature the return of marksman Karl Fairburne. The game is set during World War 2 in 1944 France, where Karl works closely with the French Resistance. The plot centers around Karl’s discovery of a secret Nazi project called Operation Kraken.
While the game mainly features single-player elements, it will also offer PvP and co-op gameplay. “Sniper Elite 5” comes with an Invasion Mode, where players can take on the role of a sniper from the Axis side and bring chaos to another player’s campaign. A co-op survival mode will let players join a team of four and fight waves of enemies. Rebellion also previously announced a 16-player multiplayer mode.
