“Shrek 5” is very late since it was confirmed a few years ago. While some fans are continuously waiting, there are others who have already given up. They reasoned that it is not coming anymore, mainly due to the long delay.
But then, Dreamworks want the fans to know that “Shrek 5” is still happening. Despite the delay and lack of update, the studio is stelling everyone that their plans for the fifth “Shrek” movie are still on the table. In fact, throughout the years since confirming the fifth installment, they have been leaving clues that say it is coming.
Get ready for a new “Shrek”
When “Shrek 5” arrives, the viewers will see many changes in the movie. This is because rather than producing a sequel, the fifth film has been decided to be a reboot. This means that they will not be continuing with the story presented by from the first to the fourth movie installments, but they will make a totally new story.
With this, new plot and concept are to be expected, but the characters will remain the same. There could be new cast additions, though, as it will be a new story. For starters, Dreamworks hired Michael McCullers to be its new writer. Getting him onboard will definitely give the movie a new style and fresh story ideas.
“He came up with a really great idea that they’re exploring,” the director of ‘Shrek 2,’ Mike Mitchell, told Collider. “With this detail, the viewers will see a different story that may be filled with twists and other explosive plots.”
Cancellation rumors
“Shrek 5” is clearly not canceled and will be out in theaters in the near future. Besides, McCullers already revealed that he is done with the scripts, so it is likely that it will not be long before the actual production of the movie begins.
Also, there are leaked reports that even stated when “Shrek 5” is set to be released, and this only means that the film is in the works. Based on the rumored date, this Dreamworks animation is set to arrive on Sept. 23, 2022. It is still a long time away, but still, the movie is definitely coming.
