News regarding Selena Gomez’s health is still scarce following the star’s announcement that she’ll be stepping away from social media for a while. The “Back To You” singer published her statement on an Instagram post where she encouraged everyone to be more sensitive of other’s feelings.
Selena Gomez’s decision is thought to be related with her Lupus condition as the illness and its treatments are known to cause depression and anxiety. The celebrity is supposedly undergoing mental health treatment which started in September following a “mental breakdown” suffered by the star, TMZ (via Cosmopolitan reported).
However, the article has since been taken down by the publication indicating that the information is either inaccurate or completely false. Right now, nothing is known about Selena Gomez’s condition as everyone involved with revitalizing her health is being tight-lipped about the matter.
Her Instagram account has been quiet as well. It goes without saying that Selena Gomez’s battle with Lupus is a huge fight for the “Bad Liar” singer as there is no known cure for the illness. However, the condition is manageable and those who are affected can relatively live a normal life if they follow regimens design to control the ailment.
For most people affected with Lupus, one of the biggest challenges standing in their way is dealing with the mental issues that arise. And since Selena Gomez’s health is closely being scrutinized by the media, it’s doubly difficult for the star to cope with this factor. This is likely the reason why she decided to lay off social media for a while.
It can be recalled that when she spent two weeks at a treatment center back in 2013, tabloids started publishing stories that the reason she was admitted was due to substance addiction. Of course, Selena Gomez was upset about the news and has spoken about it when it eventually spread.
"I wanted so badly to say, 'You guys have no idea. I'm in chemotherapy. You're a**holes. I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again,” Selena Gomez said. Currently, all fans can do now is show their support for the “Wolves” singer’s and pray and that her condition will go back to normal.
