Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe's “Outlander” love story is one of the most iconic modern romances on television. But with “Outlander” season 4 acknowledging that Jamie and Claire Fraser's relationship has gone to the next stage, it seems that the “Outlander” universe may be ready to expand its storytelling scope.
In an interview with Elle, Caitriona Balfe mentions that her and Sam Heughan's characters have already come to a point where their love for each other has already stabilized. Fans no longer need to worry about any will they, won't they antics from the series as the show is finally starting with the premise that Jamie and Claire Fraser will be facing the new world as husband and wife rather than having the world tear them from each other's arms.
Sam Heughan adds to the interview by pointing out that the upcoming “Outlander” season 4 will be more focused on Jamie and Claire Fraser looking for a more permanent place to settle in. Balfe also adds that the upcoming season gives the couple the chance to create a new life for themselves rather than worry about simply being together. While some fans may be satisfied with the new state of the “Outlander” series, there may be other lives to be explored in the show's universe.
Who knows? Interest Has Been Expressed, is about all I could tell you. https://t.co/oiEH22G66Y

Replying to a fan question on Twitter about a potential spin-off about Lord John Grey (David Berry), “Outlander” author Diana Gabaldon mentions that there is definitely some interest in following the character's life. Fans will remember that John Grey was originally an enemy who turned into a confidante for the Fraser couple and the second son of Viscount Melton has supported Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe's characters through particularly hairy situations.
With Diana Gabaldon already exploring the character's life in her “Lord John” series of novels and novellas, fans can look forward to more stories that do not necessarily have to involve Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. Hopefully, fans will hear more about the potential Lord John spin-off by the time “Outlander” season 4 broadcasts its season premiere episode on Nov. 4.
