SAN DIEGO, Oct. 23, 2017 -- Dr. Carrie Roeder Brannock and staff join a patient’s team to raise money for breast cancer treatments and research through the Susan G. Komen 5k Race for the Cure, reports Roeder Wellness Center. Even though survival rates have increased, women continue to be diagnosed with breast cancer and those going through treatment and survivors need support and resources provided through the Susan G. Komen 5k Race for the Cure. The Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure is scheduled for Sunday, November 5th at 8am in Balboa Park and the chiropractic clinic in San Diego, Roeder Wellness Center, is a proud supporter.
Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure® offers a 5k and 1 mile walk/run for all of those interested in supporting individuals affected by breast cancer. Komen San Diego is the county’s largest provider of free breast cancer services, treatments and support. Community support for the Komen San Diego Race has helped provide funding for temporary financial aid, diagnostic treatments, meal delivery and intensive patient navigation. 75 percent of funds raised serve residents in San Diego County. The other 25 percent of funds goes to research to find a cure.
Breast cancer is a serious disease impacting the quality of life for women, men and children in San Diego County. Without necessary preventative screenings and treatment, it would be more difficult to detect and treat early and later stages of breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, the rate of women who have died from the disease have decreased approximately 40 percent over the past 25 years. Statistically speaking, survival rates have continued to improve and the decline in mortality rates may be due to early detection and treatment improvements.
“It is rare to find someone that has not been affected by breast cancer. We support our patients through the treatment process and beyond,” said Dr. Carrie Roeder Brannock. “We continue to join breast cancer survivors in building more awareness and raising funds for free treatments, research and support for those diagnosed with breast cancer. Feel free to reach out to find out more about participating in the race or to donate to this worthwhile cause.”
