“Riverdale” season 4 episode 1 will surely be a tearjerker as it will be the show’s final farewell to Fred Andrews. The premiere has been aptly titled “Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam” since it will be dedicated to Luke Perry who passed away while season 3 is airing.
Tribute to Luke Perry
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa already revealed prior to the filming of “Riverdale” season 4 that they will give Perry a proper exit in the series. The first episode of the upcoming season will honor Luke Perry so the viewers can expect it to be emotional.
“We suffered a huge, huge, huge loss and it’s something we’re going to be feeling for as long as we’re lucky enough to keep making the show,” the showrunner told Entertainment Tonight.“It's going to reveal the fate of Fred Andrews and it's set on July 4th. We think it honors the memory of Luke and it honors the memory of Fred.”
TV Line recently released a preview photo of the “Riverdale” season 4 episode 4, and it was really heartbreaking. It shows Mary Andrews (Molly Ringwald) comforting her son Archie (KJ Apa) by hugging him and judging by the scene, the series may have let go of Fred by having him die in the story as well.
Cast, guest and new character
“Riverdale” season 4 will bring back the main characters including Apa, Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones), Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper), Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge), Mark Consuelos (Hiram Lodge) and Charles Melton (Reggie Mantle). It was also revealed that Shannen Doherty will make a special appearance in the first episode for the tribute to Luke. Also, as per The Hollywood Reporter, “The Vida” star Mishel Prada has been added for a recurring role as Hermosa, a Miami-born private investigator.
Plot
The fourth season of “Riverdale” will be about the kids going in their senior year which means this is their last year in high school. Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that they want to keep the story in the high school world, and the viewers can expect more mysteries to crop up and the kids getting them solved.
“Riverdale” season 4 episode 1 will arrive on Oct. 9 on at 9 p.m. on The CW.
