Adult Swim and series creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland are all still secretive about the release date of “Rick and Morty” season 4. However, new speculation suggests that it could be released about a year since the network ordered the fourth installment.
The latest season of the animated show concluded in October 2017 but “Rick and Morty” season 4 was not confirmed until May 2018. But the wait was worth it as Roiland and Harmon subsequently announced they have written materials that could bring the episode count up to 70. Season 1 had 11 episodes while seasons 2 and 3 had 10 each.
Now, reports speculate that “Rick and Morty” season 4 could arrive as early as next month. That gives Harmon and Roiland’s team about a year to work on the fourth season. While this could be a piece of amazing news, unfortunately, there is no hard proof to support it.
The absence of “Rick and Morty” season 4’s release date window gives several news sources to speculate. For one, Inverse suggested that new episodes could start arriving in summer following a tweet from a Bardel Entertainment animator in January. The social media post implied that the studio, that has been working on the series animation since season 1, already started working for season 4.
The same report then recalled, in the case of season 3, there was a seven-month gap between the time Bardel Entertainment reportedly started working on it from its actual premiere on Adult Swim. Thus, the speculation that “Rick and Morty” season 4 will be released in summer.
Meanwhile, series writer Ryan Ridley previously suggested that “Rick and Morty” season 4 would not premiere until late 2019. “I know how long this show takes to write, let alone animate. I’d be surprised if there was a fourth season on the air anytime sooner than 2019… late 2019,” Ridley told the Detroit Cast (via HotNewHipHop.com).
