Many details about “Rick and Morty” season 4 are still under wraps, but the series creators have been giving some teasers since the next installment was confirmed. In one of the latest behind-the-scenes sneak peek from series co-creator Justin Roiland, another fan-favorite item is teased to make a comeback.
Roiland, who also serves as the voice actor for both the titular protagonists, shared a photo on Instagram taken while they were recording for “Rick and Morty” season 4. The photo itself does not reveal much, but Roiland managed to stir the fans’ excitement with its caption. “Idc3 (maybe),” he wrote.
It seemed like nothing much was going on in the caption. However, avid fans were quick to make a connection that Roiland was referring to the Interdimensional Cable introduced in previous episodes. This means that the Interdimensional Cable could continue its tradition of recurring appearance in “Rick and Morty” season 4.
As the name suggests, the Interdimensional Cable is one of Rick’s brilliant inventions it made out of a supercharged battery, a motherboard, and a Xanthenite time crystal. He first brought it out to prove to their family that the TV programs on Earth are nothing compared to the endless options of channels across the multiverse. The creators even dedicated a season 2 episode titled after the cable box. What could possibly happen when the Interdimensional Cable returns in “Rick and Morty” season 4?
The Interdimensional Cable appeared in the first three seasons on episodes that dealt with issues within the Smith family. At the end of each ordeal, the cable box seems to unite the family in their own twisted ways. However, it is also important to note that Roiland seemed to tell fans in the same Instagram post that the inclusion of the Interdimensional Cable in “Rick and Morty” season 4 is not set in stone yet.
Meanwhile, Roiland's photo also suggests that they still have much work to finish before “Rick and Morty” season 4 gets released. As of this writing, the Adult Swim network has yet to announce an official release date.
