“Resident Evil 4” is often considered the best installment in the franchise, successfully revitalizing the series, and rekindled the interest of players who were getting tired of the unwieldy mechanics of previous games by the time “Code Veronica” came around. On August 30, players who are fans of the fourth “RE” game can replay the adventures of “Leon S. Kennedy” and “Ada Wong” on the current generation consoles.
“Capcom” already announced that they would release the beloved installment of the franchise earlier, but they placed the timeline at a rather vague range by saying that it would be coming this fall. With the confirmed date of August 30, players now have a definite time to look forward. As Engadget notes, the date is earlier than expected as well.
The re-release of “RE4” completes the trend of bringing modern games of the franchise to their next generation status, with “RE 5” and “RE 6” already out a few months earlier. What makes “RE 4” unique compared to its siblings is the fact that it has been ported to practically every platform available.
From PC to the “Wii,” “Leon” has been blasting “Spanish” villagers in every way imaginable. With the re-release of the game coming up, all it needs is the original “RE” treatment and get remade for the next gen platforms, and it would have covered every trend there is.
In any case, “Capcom” stated that the re-release will feature all of the original content and bonuses that came with the game. This means that players will get the extra costumes, the added story missions for “Ada,” and the “Mercenary” mode. Unfortunately, there won’t be anything new added to the game.
The absence of new features is something that players will need to take into consideration when deciding whether or not to get the game, according to Tech Times. This re-release would be perfect for gamers who have yet to try “RE 4,” but not as much for those who already own it.
