Video game fans can now pre-order the modern release of “Resident Evil 2.” Capcom has also revealed the exclusive content added to the base game arriving with pre-ordered copies months away from the title’s official release.
Capcom is keeping it simple, with “Resident Evil 2” having only two purchase editions available. Players can choose between the Standard and Deluxe Editions and, obviously, the latter has more perks but costs a bit more.
Pre-ordering the “Resident Evil 2” Standard Edition on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC will give players exclusive access to two Samurai Edge weapons designed after game characters Chris and Jill. Meanwhile, PS4 players are exclusively getting a “Resident Evil 2” Special Theme, while an early purchase on Steam comes with a Wallpaper Pack. All these versions cost $59.99 each.
On the other hand, the “Resident Evil 2” Deluxe Edition comes with all the content available on the Standard Edition per gaming platform. But this purchase gives players exclusive access to the Extra DLC items. These include the Leon costumes (Arklay Sheriff and Noir), Claire costumes (Military, Elza Walker, and Noir), and the Samurai Edge’s Albert model.
The game’s Deluxe Edition also comes with the game’s official soundtrack. This costs $69.99 across all three gaming systems.
Capcom announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo last month that they have recreated the “Resident Evil 2” to match the more powerful capacities of modern consoles and PC specs. Considering that the game was originally launched in 1998, fans can expect to see Raccoon City in a completely different light.
However, developers refuse to call the 2019 release of “Resident Evil 2” a mere remake. “For someone that’s played the game, some people played it once and some people played it a thousand times because it’s their favorite game. For the people that have even played it a thousand times, we wanted it to feel fresh,” Capcom brand manager Mike Lunn told GamingBolt. “That’s why we don’t call it 'Resident Evil 2 Remake.' It’s a new game built on top of the foundation.”
Meanwhile, if there is something lacking on the pre-order perks, that is the typical early access to the game. With that, all players can start playing “Resident Evil 2” on Jan. 25, 2019.
