The XM3, Renault Korea Motors' coupé-type small sports utility vehicle (SUV), continues to take the market by storm, notching a significant sales increase of 29.3% in June, totaling 4,956 units. The vehicle, also known as Renault Arkana, mirrors its success in Europe, surpassing 80,000 units last year, nearly doubling previous sales. Its blend of stylish design, fuel efficiency, and robust performance are key to its popularity.
Renault Korea achieved 100,000 sales in June last year, less than two years after exporting the Arkana in 2021. The SUV continued to exceed 100,000 additional sales the following year. The appealing attributes of the SUV include its stylish design, fuel economy, and robust steering performance, which enables smooth navigation on rough European roads.
The notable CMF-B platform, used by Renault and Nissan, is renowned for its stability during high-speed journeys. The platform's suspension system ensures a comfortable and secure driving experience on any road surface.
With a spacious cargo room of 516 liters and ample legroom in the back seats, the SUV prioritizes passenger comfort and convenience. Another sought-after SUV model, the XM3 E-TECH Hybrid, boasts impressive fuel efficiency, achieving 17.5 kilometers per liter in Korea. Drivers appreciate the one-pedal driving system and the 100 percent electric mode, contributing to a seamless and efficient driving experience.
The one-pedal driving feature lets drivers control deceleration or bring the vehicle to a complete stop using only the accelerator pedal under specific conditions. The vehicle's engine and electric motor combination allow dynamic driving with high-efficiency fast acceleration capabilities.
Renault recently announced a global sales increase of 13% in the first half of this year, accompanied by a 24% growth in Europe. Despite the challenges posed by the semiconductor crisis and the temporary closure of the group's operations in Russia, Renault sold 1,133,667 vehicles between January and June, surpassing the 1,000,199 units sold in the same period last year. This sales rebound comes after four consecutive years of decline for the company.
At the end of June 2023, Renault's order backlog in Europe corresponded to 3.4 months of sales, surpassing the target of 2 months set for the entire year, even in a market down 30% compared to 2019. These achievements reflect Renault's commitment to excellence and innovation.
