'Reign' Season 3, Episode 18 Spoilers: "Spiders in a Jar" - Mary Battles Cousin Elizabeth to Reclaim Scotland; Season 4 Production Begins at The CW

‘Reign’ is preparing its season 3 finale with episode 18, entitled “Spiders In A Jar”. The incoming episode will follow Mary preparing to do battle with her cousin Elizabeth in order to reclaim Scotland upon her triumphant return. Season 4’s production has also begun for the show’s next run at The CW.

The synopsis for episode 18 posted on Hollywood Hills stated, “Mary is going to make a bold move to defend her reign in Scotland, which will result in a battle royale with her cousin, Elizabeth. Lola will get accused of a heinous crime and will suffer the drastic consequences.”

In the preceding episode, entitled “Intruders”, Mary (Adelaide Kane) and Bash (Torrance Coombs) are brought to the McFee leader Munro (John Barrowman) after pretending to be ordinary sibling merchants in order to escape death. Munro eventually figures out their real identities but Mary moves faster, killing him with the short-sword Francis (Toby Regbo) made for her. With Mary’s vengeance for Francis’ death completed, she journeys to Edinburgh with Bash where she makes a dramatic entrance before the nobility of Scotland.

Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten), who sent her troops to Scotland in order to take over Mary’s throne, learns that her cousin is alive and well but refuses to call in her men. Meanwhile, Narcisse (Craig Parker) sneaks into Elizabeth’s court to see Lola (Anna Popplewell) but before the two could flee together Lola receives a coded note ordering Elizabeth’s assassination.

Back in France, Catherine (Megan Follows) finds Charles (Spencer McPherson) returning as a changed man after paying the price for his mother’s actions in her vicious pursuit for power.

The season finale’s promo opens with Mary in court as she declares, “I have returned home to lead this country to greatness.” She goes on to intimidate the Scottish noble by saying, “Help me bring all of my people together or may God and your queen have mercy on your soul.” In the next scene, Mary is seen passionately addressing townsfolk to unite as one in order to defeat intruders threatening to take over their land.

Meanwhile, production for season 4 has commenced. The incoming season was renewed on The CW last March. According to TV Series Finale, it is scheduled to premiere sometime in the mid-season.

‘Reign’ season 3’s episode 18 is scheduled to debut on June 20, 2016 at 7pm central time on The CW.
