‘Reign’ Season 3, Episode 17 Spoilers: “Intruders” - Elizabeth Gains Control of Scotland; Mary Confronts Francis’ Real Killer

‘Reign’ season 3 is nearing its end and the incoming episode, “Intruders”, will find Elizabeth plotting to take Mary’s kingdom of Scotland as her own after the latter is presumed dead at sea. Meanwhile, Mary is set to come face to face with Munro, the dangerous McFee leader behind Francis’ death.

Episode 17’s synopsis posted on Carter Matt stated, “With Mary (Adelaide Kane) presumed dead, Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) enlists Lola’s (Anna Popplewell) help in taking the Scottish crown for herself, while Mary’s half-brother James (guest star Dan Jeannotte) must defend her throne from John Knox (guest star Jonathan Goad). Meanwhile, Mary comes face to face with Francis’s killer when she and Bash (Torrance Coombs) find themselves in the hands of a fearsome clan leader named Munro (guest star John Barrowman).”

It seems that as season 3 is nearing its end, Mary continues to struggle with more complications as she attempts to fight for Scotland’s crown after returning from her turbulent life in France. In the promo, she threatens to go after Munro in order to reclaim her throne.

In the preceding episode, entitled “Clans”, Mary’s ship sinks in a storm but she survives and is washed ashore in Northern Scotland together with Bash and Narcisse. While Bash is taken away to be healed by druids, Mary and Narcisse narrowly escape death after being attacked by the fierce McFee. Narcisse then leaves for England.

The fierce local clan attacks the druids prompting Mary and Bash to hide their real identities by pretending to be sibling merchants in order to survive. The two decide to travel with the McFee. Mary is determined to face their clan leader, Munro, so she could finally get revenge for Francis’ (Toby Regbo) death.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth is plotting to take control of Scotland after learning of Mary’s supposed death. James is also left to the task of defending England’s throne from John Knox.

Mary learns about this and is forced to defend her kingdom from her cousin, according to Christian Times. The two are bound to lead their respective troops into a fearsome battle in the finale.

‘Reign’ is a historical drama and romance television series focusing on the early years of Mary Queen of Scots as she rises to become one of the kingdom’s greatest monarchs. Season 3’s episode 17 is scheduled to premiere on The CW on June 13, 2016.
