Gamers who have used or owned the original Xbox will remember the big, bulky Duke controller that made playing games either fun or way too much of a hassle. This peripheral is being brought back and is compatible with the Xbox One. Older fans will get some huge nostalgic pricks with this controller while newer gamers finally have an excuse to try it out.
Now, the peripheral is not yet available in the market and the designer who created the Duke controller was only recently given permission to starting building it for the current generation, Engadget reports. Aside from being made for the new Xbox One and Xbox One X, however, it would seem that the controller will also be available for Windows 10 users.
The designer, in question, is Seamus Blackley, who has been working on the controller for Hyperkin, a company selling peripherals. Blackley made the announcement on Twitter, complete with a picture of the controller.

“#NewDuke has gone to tooling and is approved by @Xbox THIS IS HAPPENING!” the Tweet reads.
As PC World notes, the new controller does seem to have a few differences compared to the original. For one thing, the Xbox logo in the center is an embedded display, which might just play the start-up sequence of the console. If so, it would be so cool.
It also has two triggers at the back, which is not exactly easy to see on the image that Blackley provided. This is a much better design choice than the original Duke, which had the black and white buttons on the upper right corner acting as the triggers, and were really awkward to use.
In any case, while it’s not exactly a 100 percent faithful recreation, it’s still enough of a Duke controller to bring back fond memories of playing the original Xbox. As such, there will likely be a lot of fans eagerly awaiting the day when they get their hands on the much too big peripheral.
