During the season finale of “Quantico” Season 1, there was the notable scene where Alex was offered a position in the CIA. At this point, she had already quit the FBI following her shooting of Liam and Simon sacrificing himself in a heroic bid to save everyone. So, will Alex accept the offer?
According to a recent interview with TVGuide, executive producer of the show Josh Safran confirms that this is likely the case.
“I think that is a correct assumption,” Safran said when was asked if Alex will accept the CIA’s offer. “I've always been interested in how our different government organizations work with each other and how they all work with the same goal in mind, but they go about it in different ways.”
Safran also talked about the fate of the other characters in the show, including Simon who he confirms is actually dead. Safran shared a conversation he had with Tate who played Simon about what his character would need to do and Ellington responded by saying “that makes total sense. That is what Simon would do.”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly after the season 1 finale showed, Safran also hinted at some of the details that will be central to the plot of season 2. He said that the difference in how the CIA handles things compared to the FBI is of particular interest to them. More specifically, where the FBI is all about honesty and integrity, the CIA leans more towards dishonesty and deception.
As of right now, no one can confirm which central characters other than Alex will be back for season 2, though viewers can count on new characters to be introduced in the shady government agency. Safran did say that instead of a sequel, the next season will be more like another story entirely.
“Quantico” is scheduled to return this fall on ABC.
